Public Statement by Dr. Faisal Al‑Mutairi

On the Occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work
28 April
Today, the International Diplomatic Union joins the global community in commemorating the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, established by the International Labour Organization to promote safe and healthy workplaces, protect workers’ rights, and reduce occupational accidents and injuries. This day provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of preventive measures in the workplace and to foster a culture of safety and occupational health across all sectors.
Occupational safety and health are not merely legal obligations; they are a social and ethical responsibility that ensures workers’ well-being while enhancing productivity and sustainability in work environments. This day reminds us that investing in employee safety protects lives, strengthens institutional efficiency, and reduces risks to communities.
We honor workers, employers, occupational health professionals, and organizations committed to implementing best practices to ensure safe workplaces, who continue their efforts to safeguard lives and enhance well-being. Their dedication inspires the international community to strengthen and effectively implement occupational safety and health programs.
In line with its mandate, the International Diplomatic Union remains committed to supporting programs and initiatives that promote workplace safety and health, including workshops, training, partnerships with regional and international institutions, and community-driven initiatives aimed at raising awareness and developing preventive policies.
Around the world, activities marking this day—including conferences, workshops, awareness campaigns, and field inspections—highlight the critical role of occupational safety and health in protecting workers and enhancing productivity, while supporting professionals and organizations that document initiatives and contribute to improving work environments.
On this occasion, the IDU calls upon governments, institutions, and civil society to reaffirm their commitment to implementing occupational safety and health standards, protecting workers’ rights, and reducing risks in workplaces. Only through collaboration and dedicated effort can we lay the foundation for a safer and healthier future for all workers.
